Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Veterinary Dermatology
Your next career opportunity awaits at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. One of only 33 veterinary schools in the United States, LSU Vet Med is experiencing unprecedented growth as we seek to improve and protect the lives of animals and people through superior education, transformational research, and compassionate care. We are dedicated to building a premier team of world-renowned clinicians, educators, and researchers to provide an elite healthcare experience in Louisiana and the region. This is where science meets passion and global health prevails. We hope you will join us as we explore what is possible.
We are seeking our next Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Veterinary Dermatology (clinical or tenure track). As a Veterinary Dermatologist, you will provide expert and high-quality care for animals presenting to the Dermatology service. Dermatology faculty also provide consultation to other clinical faculty in the hospital, as well as to referring veterinary partners seeking advice on difficult cases. The position involves daily supervision of students, interns and residents rotating through the dermatology service. You will also provide lecture and laboratory instruction to students in the pre-clinical phase of their education. The successful candidate will participate in the clinical training of dermatology residents. This will involve clinical and research mentorship as well as guided journal clubs, book reviews and dermatopathology rounds.
The successful candidate will join two other full-time faculty, a resident, and a dedicated service technician in a brand-new 1,500 square foot dermatology suite. This spacious area has plenty of natural light, two multi-headed teaching microscopes with a monitor, a dedicated multi-media capable rounds room and a separate bathing/cat room. The dermatology service has access to a new Aesculight CO2 laser as well as to an updated video otoscope system with video and image capture capabilities. Other facilities at LSU Vet Med include a full-service state of the art radiology suite (including digital radiography and fluoroscopy, picture archiving and communication system as well as ultrasound, CT, and MRI capabilities for both large and small animals), a brand-new state of the art linear accelerator and radiation therapy suite, a newly constructed animal diagnostic laboratory and a freshly remodeled laboratory animal facility.
The Dermatology service is a tightly woven team of individuals with a strong history of both inter- and extra-specialty collaboration. We have an excellent and collegial working relationship with all the services in the hospital (including large animal and exotic services). Current faculty areas of focus include immunology of allergic reactions and fungal infections, cutaneous parasitology, and comprehensive treatment of otitis externa.
